To the extreme

30 Dec

Mostly everything we do in American society is to the extreme. Extreme sports, shopping, eating, studying, innovating, inventing..oh wait. I must’ve been talking about another country on the last three. But nonetheless, we get pretty OCD about some of the most ridiculous things.

The latest: Couponing.

Saving money is NEVER a bad thing, but this “stockpile” thing…is ridiculous! Β Last night on TLC, they debuted a new show sharing the stories of people addicted to “couponing”. Granted, I learned a few things about how to save money at the grocer, but I just couldn’t get with the mini-grocery stores (what they call, stockpiles) they were building in their own houses. Only one of the people featured on the show mentioned he donated food to his church’s food bank, but the others just stored it as a personal collection of glory.

It is a gift and truly amazing they can save that much money and get that much product, but with people starving all over the nation, perhaps they can share those gifts with those less fortunate? I know, I know, every time someone gets something in excess or of value, we immediately uphold them to some socially moral standard that everyday people without a camera focused on them may or may not follow.

But, geez! A two-car garage is intended for…two cars. And a bedroom is intended to hold beds! The last thing I’d expect to find in either of these places is 1,200 bars of soap, 3,000 rolls of tissue and enough shampoo to the wash the heads of everyone who attended the last presidential inauguration. But we’re American, and we have the freedom to do with what we have, whatever it is we want to do. πŸ™‚

The way I look at it, almost everything we do can be viewed as extreme when you open it up to the scrutiny of others. These blogs are a good example. What we view as a source of encouragement, may be obssesive, and extreme to others.

All in all, whatever works for you, do it! You just never know how you’ll help others out by sharing your story. I may not agree with every thing these shopaholics do, but I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for the next circular. πŸ™‚

It’s that time again

Weekly progress post! πŸ™‚

So the holidays have passed, not sure I want to count New Year’s at this point, but we’ll see how much I eat πŸ™‚ Again, I didn’t do too bad, but not excellent. I did slack on working out these last couple of days, in fact, today is the first day I’ve worked out this week. With all the other resolutioners I vow to do tremendous things next year, and amping out my workout routine is one step lol But seriously, this blog is about progress and that’s what I intend to do.

I’m debating on something Public, and I think you can help me out. I’m going back and forth on whether or not I should measure my thighs weekly. Honestly, I can never tell if I’m measuring the same spot or not, and in the big scheme of things, I really don’t care about how big my thighs are, I really just want to flatten this santa tummy. That being said, I have seen a loss in my thighs since we have began. Maybe I should start measuring my arms or bust?? When it comes to dress sizes, I think the bust is what counts, along with the waist and hips. Let me know what you guys think!! If you’re a regular visitor, you know how indecisive I can be πŸ™‚

On to the photos!

Stomach 37 and some change"

Hips 47 1/2"

Thigh 25 1/2"

Not too much change in my hips and thighs, and no shock there as a change in my hips would mean a change in the size of my butt..and well. That’s going to take some time πŸ™‚ I gained almost 3/4″ on my stomach, for shame! I’ll gladly post this week.

Ups and downs, Public. Ups and downs.

Home for the holidays

26 Dec

I’m home for the holidays and though it is good to see family, I’m ready to get back to my own home! : )

I did work out…did two miles on the treadmill. I would call it intervals but I ran for about 45 seconds and walked the other 44 minutes : / something is better than nothing! I really did quite alright as far as indulging is concerned. Partly because I spent the holiday at my in laws, but that’s another story : )

I’m surprised my family and IΒ  talked more about wedding planning on my drive home than when I was there! I’m such an indecisive bride!! We technically have a venue…but now I’m 2nd guessing if I should switch locations. Is this normal?? : / So right now I’m antsy to get home to research more venues or just leave well enough alone.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! I’ve got one more day of company paid vacation, so I’m going to milk it and not get out of bed until my basic training class (if that) : )

Anyone have and good holiday stories they want to share?

Facing the Fat

21 Dec

I’m feeling great about posting this week. Not that there is any significant loss or gain, just good to redeem myself after skipping a week of not posting. We had a team holiday outing today and though I snacked, I only had 3 chicken wings, one tacquito, and like 6 sweet potato fries. Trust me…I could’ve done FAR more than that! This will be another tough weekend as it is Christmas and I’m going home to see family. I plan on taking my workout clothes (as usual) but hope to actually pull them out this time and umm workout! πŸ™‚

It’s getting a little tougher to measure my stomach as my belly button isn’t as high anymore. I like to measure just around the button and it’s the only way I can be sure I’m measuring the exact location each week. My thighs are noticeably more toned, and I really can’t tell too much with my hips because they are just super wide for no reason at all times.

Stomach 36 1/2"

Hips 47 1/4"

Thigh 25 1/2"

Not so shabby this week. I still still (still) need to increase my water intake. Sometimes I just don’t drink at all until I have a meal. Mainly because I’m busy at work most days and don’t like the idea of having to use my precious minutes traveling to the restroom for a bio break. My coworker drinks water nonstop all day, and she visits the restroom equally as much!

Feeling good so far! I’m ready to head home, see my family, and open some presents!

What are your plans for the holiday Public??

Selection of the Bridal Slaves

20 Dec

So I’m feeling good about working out and eating right again! πŸ™‚ I’ve done okay this week and stayed on track with my working out, so there will be a post tomorrow! I won’t deny a post again. It’s wrong and this blog is about the ups and downs and not just the ups.

But yesterday I had so much fun with my new bridal party! I had tons of fruit and some chicken wings (which I only had two wings and lots of fruit!). I invited some friends over and watched some trash TV. (VH1 Sunday nights, need I say more?) And they were bombarding me with wedding planning questions and especially about my dress! I let them down that I can’t show them my gown just yet, but they’re pretty confident that I can’t hold water, so they just know I’m going to seep before the year is out! …I’m going to try my hardest not to..but I can’t promise anything!

Since my colors are dark blue, black and white I went out and tried to find cute little dark blue trinkets for the girls. I got that done in one trip to Bath & Body Works. I also found these cute little bottles of Moscato Asti that were just perfect!! I laid out the gifts on my bar, so I’m sure that sparked their curiosity the whole time! It was a long road for me to decide to have a bridal party, but at this point, I’m excited I did! It’s making the whole wedding experience more real and lots of fun. I still don’t want to lose track of the day being about me and my honey, but it’s even better when it’s shared with family and friends who support our relationship.

Take a look at the spread! Public, did you have a bridal party? Why or why not?
