I’m Back!!

Yay! 🙂

We closed on the house on Thursday and started the moving in process. We’ve gotten all the big boxes unpacked and now its all about getting organized and putting all the pieces of our new life together. I have to say, the buying a house process is NOT for the weak. I’m extremely happy we went through the process when we did, just another testament of what we can do and get through together.

We are first time homebuyers…funny how some people we were working with through this process seemed to forget! Long story short, we ended up spending about $2,500 more at closing than we anticipated. So there went my dress money!!!!! Just when I got over the tears and convinced myself the investment in the home far outweighs the investment in a dress I will wear for 6 hours…Priscilla of Boston (dream dress headquarters) sent me an eMail advertising their sample sale event going on the next day!! *le sigh*

On to things I now have control over…

I love my new neighborhood and there is a park in walking distance –really far walking 🙂 Since we don’t have an apartment gym anymore, majority of our workouts are going to be outside. I’ve been looking online to get some outdoor exercise ideas and thought of no better source to look than the Public!!

So listen up Public. I’m back, and I’m ready to get this business in full effect. Send me some outdoor workout ideas and I’ll start them up tonight!!

As Promised…

This week has gone entirely as planned.

Closing on this house has been a GRUELING process! I’ve signed, faxed, scanned, and eMailed every detail of entire life in a matter of weeks. That just means I’m one more step to getting this done and getting some stability to pick back up my weight loss task.

My last comment by Skye Frank actually helped as before I opened a bag of chips today, I told myself as much as I wanted some oily, salty chips, I loved myself and wanted to achieve my goals MORE than I wanted the chips! So, thanks Skye!

I enjoy getting feedback from the public, and that one tidbit went about 350 calories of help for me today. Imagine what could be done with more feedback!

Gaining Momentum

Today is a monumental day for a few reasons. I actually removed my own hair from the shower drain after I washed it, and I said some words to my fiance that he has probably not heard come from my mouth in a while.

“Wanna go to the gym?”

So we went. And a good time was had by all.

I’m slowly getting to the point where I’m ready to set some concrete goals, and begin to post photos of my progress, but I’m a little hesitant to start based on two things:

  • I can’t commit: We’re in the process of buying a house, and until things settle on that front, I’ll start to post stats and photos when I can commit to a consistent schedule – which should be soon since we close on Friday!
  • I don’t feel the love: I started this journey publicly so I could have the support of other bloggers and hopefully some brides-to-be who have similar goals, but so far..I’m just not feeling it.

So I ask today, if you’re stopping by, and you’re a bride-to-be, (or not even), what are some of the things you’ve done to motivate yourself and stay consistent to meet your weight loss goal? I also want to hear of some fun little stories anyone wants to share about their wedding planning process. Like, so far, my adult only reception plans are still on track, even after a long phone convo with the future mom-in-law. I’m so proud we stuck to our guns and are keeping it an adult only reception despite some protests from each side of our families. (I found it funny the one who barked the loudest was an aunt who spent her entire reception yelling at all the kids for touching her decorations).

Wedding Planning 101

So I thought I’d infuse some wedding planning 101 in the midst of my workout challenge to myself (p.s. I worked out tonight, so that makes 2 days..in a row!)

The worst part of wedding planning, besides almost everything, is the guest list. Everyone who knows your first name feels entitled to be a part of your special event. Sorry. Not the case. So to help some people out, I’ve come up with a quick checklist to reference when you’re trying to build your wedding guest list.

  1. If we are ONLY Facebook friends..you’re not invited to my wedding.
  2. If you’re not in my call log…or in my text message inbox…you’re not invited to my wedding!
  3. If you didn’t call/text me to say “Congrats on your engagement”…you’re not invited to my wedding.
  4. If you don’t have my phone number to do any of the above…you’re not invited to my wedding.
  5. If you’ve never met my fiance…you’re not invited to my wedding.
  6. If you don’t know what city I’m currently living in…you’re not invited to my wedding.
  7. If I’ve ever invited you to a small shindig and you didn’t show up..what makes you think you’re invited to my wedding where I have to PAY for you to show up!?…you’re not invited to my wedding.
  8. If you’ve never told me “Happy Birthday”, “Merry Christmas”, or “Happy New Year”…you’re not invited to my wedding.

I could really go on, but I just hope I got all of you off to a great start. Don’t let what is supposed to be the most special day or night of your life get ruined by the little things..or people. : ) Having a wedding with close family and friends who will build up your future instead of breaking the bank and filling your reception with spectators is just one step you can take to ensure your day goes off smoothly.

This Isn’t Going to be so Easy…

So I’m starting to think.

It’s really pretty easy if you think about it, just putting one foot in front of the other. I did okay last week. Worked out twice, which is twice more than normal.

Today we decided to walk to the store, instead of driving. It gave us two purposes, working out and taking care of shopping for some essentials. The best part of it was, I had no choice but to continue. Being just over a mile away from home there wasn’t an alternative to get on the machine for 4 minutes, and jump off because I didn’t feel like it any longer. If I wanted to get back home…I’d have to walk there.

Should really do that more often.

Oh, and at the butt of it all, is the wedding planning. When does this get fun?? Venue is almost selected, and chances are, it’s going to be an adults only reception. There is already some rumbling from the future in-laws on the “troubles” this will cause…and I’m not entirely sure if that matters to me or not at this point. There will be an open bar, and a night time reception. Since when do those two spell “kid friendly”??

I’m pretty sure stress gain is not conducive to weight loss…
